Engine and Performance

Three engines are available for the GMC Terrain. The base 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine produces up to 170 horsepower, and 203 lb.ft. of torque. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder produces 252 horsepower and 260 pounds-feet of torque. These engines can be used with a 9 speed automatic transmission. A 1.6-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine produces 240 lb.ft. of torque, and 137 horsepower. The 6-speed automatic transmission is used to drive it. The Terrain comes with a standard two-wheel drive, but you can also add four-wheel drive to improve control in different situations.


Except for the Denali, your color choices for the GMC Terrain interior can be limited to black or an intermediate ash gray and black scheme. You can also get light platinum or taupe with the trim at the top of-the-line. The interior design is elegant and modern, with lots of premium materials, especially in Denali. The vehicle is great for open roads as it makes noise and winds very minimal. The seats are comfortable and supportive, making it a great choice. The space in both rows is excellent, though the middle seat isn’t big enough for most adults. It is easy to store all types of items in the cargo area behind second row. Although the infotainment system may not be the fastest on the market, it is still very easy to use for most drivers.
